All good things, come to an end...

I say that because last week started my 6 day staycation. We celebrated the 4th the way it should be... sunny weather, with family, water fights, burgers on the grill, fireworks, drinks, and cards. Although it took us (the parents) most of July 5th to recover, it was a blast!

Now the 6th... That day is the day Joey came into the world. We try so hard to make the 4th and 6th AMAZING for us and the kids, but mostly for Joey because of what happens on the 7th.

With the 4th being amazing, we tried making the 6th just as amazing.  I'm absolutely sure we succeeded! Joey went bowling, played in the arcade, opened presents, played with a couple of his new games... then it was time for dinner and cake.

And all good things come to an end.... onto the 7th. Ugh, the dreaded day for me.

Every year from July 7th - about Aug 15th, Joey spends the summer with his father. :(
I know it has to be done. I know that Joey enjoys to spend time with him but as his mother, I absolutely dread having to be without him for the summer.

I knew this year was going to be tougher than the last 2, because this visit will be the longest to date, and Madison is older now and is aware her Buddy won't be here. She came with me to take Joey to the airport and she started crying the second Joey gave her a hug and kiss goodbye. So not only was my heart breaking because I'm going to miss my son for about 30-37 days, but my heart was also breaking because Madison was crying over Joey leaving.

This is why I take a staycation every 4th of July week. I want to spend as much time with Joey before he has to leave. I know that won't last too much longer, cause as he gets older I'm sure he'll want to spend time with his friends before he goes.
So, now my countdown begins... T-Minus 30-37 days.
Thankfully, Madison puts a smile on my face, cause if she weren't here either... I'd be a bigger basket case...lol.
